BoxUp Replaces Eco Paper Labels With Reusable Labels

Reusable label on plastic bins

After testing the concept for a year and half, BoxUp officially introduces reusable labels to help customers further reduce waste and save time during their moves. Instead of affixing and removing paper labels, customers can now simply write directly on our pre-affixed reusable labels with our Wax Pencils. We take care of removing the writings as part of our cleaning process. Customers can return the pencils to us or keep them to label their jars, leave notes on mirrors or glasses, or use on crafty projects. Markings from our Wax Pencils can easily be removed simply by wiping with cloth or paper towels. Our Wax Pencils are non-toxic.

The shift to reusable labels was driven by customers’s feedback and BoxUp’s mission to continuously improve on its sustainability efforts and cost structure. Previously, customers were required to remove labels or be assessed a fee – though BoxUp has never imposed such fees on its customers. While BoxUp Eco Labels were easy to peel and recyclable, customers still found removing labels a hassle and most don’t bother recycling them.

The elimination of paper labels not only helps customers but is also good for the planet. While BoxUp paper labels are made of 100% FSC certified post-consumer content, energy and other resources are still required to produce, ship and print the labels. Based on its current run-rate, BoxUp estimates its reusable labels will displace 30,000 paper labels annually.
